Informing Democracy On Trump Indictment In DOJ’s January 6th Probe

Today, following reports that Donald Trump has been indicted by a grand jury for his role in the January 6th insurrection and efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, Informing Democracy Executive Director Jenna Lowenstein issued the following statement:

“In America, no one is above the law—not even a former president. While Trump’s prosecution for these brazen crimes is a critical step toward justice, there is still much work to be done to root out the misinformation and election denialism he championed.

Our democracy depends on us standing up to threats to our elections, and that starts with calling out those working to undermine our democracy and the election deniers further emboldened since 2020. Whether it’s the justice system or everyday citizens, it’s up to all of us to hold these bad actors accountable for undermining our democracy—no matter if they are scheming from city hall or the Oval Office.”
