Michigan: Vote Counting and Election Certification Processes

The Michigan Research Report provides a detailed look at the vote counting and certification processes in the state.

In the report, we identify the key election administration officials and detail their responsibilities, and present the processes that govern the vote counting and certification work at the most local level.

Informing Democracy believes it is essential that election outcomes reflect the will of the voters, and are not undermined by those running our elections after the votes are cast. Our goal is to provide research that both builds confidence in our vote counting and election certification processes, and identifies potential vulnerabilities in the system in order to help fuel corrective action.

This report is specific to the 2022 election administration; an updated report will be published ahead of the 2024 election. If you have questions or feedback, please email info@informingdemocracy.org.
